We check in to our farm accommodation, then enjoy a wonderful dinner, with vegetables fresh from the kitchen garden, salami and cold meats from the famous Cinta Senese pigs, truffles and local cheeses.
Real live musicians provide accompaniment to our meal (piano-violin or accordion-vocal duos). Go easy on the Chianti, because after dinner the A Danzè Tuscan folk group will lead you in country dancing
Day 2: Where do these flavours come from?
Let’s find out where yesterday’s dinner originated. We explore the
kitchen garden; we visit the producers of those wonderful ingredients.
We meet the shepherd, the man who prepared the salami, the farm-worker…
We learn how to recognise and appreciate genuine food – on our
return home, we know what to buy for our next dinner party.
After lunch at the old tavern in Lucardo (appropriately named C'era
Una Volta – Once Upon a Time) inspired by Boccaccio, in period costume,
we roam the countryside, hearing tales of people and places in and
around the medieval village of Certaldo Alto.
Time for an aperitif in Montespertoli, while testing our taste buds
on exquisite wine at the Centro Lecci.
We dine at I Lecci wine bar on local delicacies, accompanied – again
- by excellent wine.
And so to bed, in our farmhouse.
Day 3: Time for this moment and time for the past
We relax at Gambassi thermal spa, each choosing our own personal
treatment schedule – hydro massage in spa water, sauna, a chocolate
massage.. to pamper all our senses..
And how better to end, than with a tasting-session in a real
medieval castle? The 13th century tower of Sonnino Castle, just
outside Montespertoli, dominates the valley below. The extensive
castle estate includes 15 hectares of olive groves. And - of course!
- 45 hectares of vineyards, containing 305 of the famous vines of
the local Chianti.

Not included are treatments at Gambassi thermal spa, from €100.00.
The above weekend package (Friday to Sunday) applies to domestic
(Italian) visitors. For overseas visitors on a week’s holiday,
additional activities will be offered (Thursday to Saturday) on the
theme of good food and wine and local produce.
